Following on from a highly successful HIC 2015, we welcome all members and non-members to the HISA Queensland State Branch event. This event will feature guest presenters followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session.

E-health research and broader perspective, including secondary care

Dr David Hansen CEO, The Australia E-Health Research Centre

David Hansen is the CEO of the Australian e-Health Research Centre, a joint venture between CSIRO and Queensland Health, and Research Director of CSIRO’s e-Health Research Program. In these roles David leads over 80 CSIRO scientists and engineers in e-Health research and implementation projects around Australia.

David is the currently the HISA Chair and was the HISA Board Secretary for many years, working with Board members and HISA staff on new key initiatives such as CHIA and the Big Data conferences.

Digital disruption: Primary care perspective

Dr Peter Adkins General Practitioner, Birkdale Medical Centre and Senior Clinical Advisor, Brisbane South PHN

Dr Peter Adkins is a General Practitioner working at Birkdale Medical Centre and Senior Clinical Advisor with the new Brisbane South PHN. He has a long interest in health informatics and was an inaugural HISA Board member in 1993, HISA Treasured from 1994-1997, then HISA Board Chair from 1997 to 2000. He was a member of the National Electronic Health Records Taskforce (1999-2000) which proposed a health information network for Australia. Peter has been involved in a number of initiatives over the years to promote the use of clinical and management software applications in health care quality improvement.

Elissa Walker Managing Director, Health and Public Service, Accenture


Elissa is the Managing Director at Accenture, with over 16 years’ practical implementation experience in delivering complex projects across public sector engagements. As the Release Lead for the PCEHR July 2012 deployment, she had direct exposure to the challenges of building and deploying the PCEHR solution and sharing health information across Australia’s health ecosystem. Prior to this role, Elissa was the Release Lead for Singapore’s National Electronic Health Record, which gave her insight into how other countries tackle e-health.
