Nursing Informatics Australia (NIA), a special interest group of HISA, is pleased to invite you to participate in NIA 2013, Australia's Nursing Informatics Conference, to be held on 15 July 2013 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The primary theme of NIA 2013 is New Age Workforce: Blending Professional and Digital Behaviours.

NIA 2013 is Australia's only dedicated one day national nursing informatics conference – AND it has an impressive 20+ year history! NIA 2013 will bring together the best of the best in terms of nursing informatics leaders. Delegates will delve into key issues in terms of governance, legal & ethics, professionalism, mobile apps, social media, work/life balance & technology, patient centred care/self-management and making it easy for the patient.

Keynotes

Janette Bennett is the Clinical Director Global market development for BT Health. She has overseen BT's delivery of ICT services software, systems integration and infrastructure in Singapore as well as clinical safety in Australia. Janette has worked across all of BTs current projects in all aspects from design to implementation.

Ann Larkins is the CIO/Director of Information Services at Barwon Health. She is a CCRN completing her MBT (UNSW) with over 20 years' experience in clinical practice, patient flow and ICT projects and strategy in the health sector. Key to the success of the changes that have taken place at Barwon Health has been the iterative cycles of improvement driven collaboratively with clinicians and ICT over the past 12 years, with a shared vision of providing support and value for clinical practice and improved patient outcomes across the region. The next phases of work will see the progression to a true EMR across the organisation with evidence based decision support inbuilt by design, with increasing capability to share data seamlessly with patients and other treating clinicians in line with our consumer focus and the broad aims of the national e-health agenda.

Cherrie Lowe is a registered general nurse and registered midwife with Tertiary qualifications in Education (Nursing) and Hospital Administration. Cherrie has been a Director of Nursing of several hospitals and has worked in a wide range of clinical specialties. Cherrie is a senior surveyor for the Australian Council on HealthCare Standards. She is also an Honorary Lecturer and Associate of Monash University for the Faculty of Nursing. Cherrie regularly presents at national and international healthcare conferences on a wide range of topics and has had numerous papers / chapters published internationally. Cherrie is a founding Director of Trend Care Systems Pty Ltd, an international software company. Cherrie is also the proud recipient of the Royal College of Nursing Australia (Qld Chapter) Nursing Excellence Award for the contribution she has made to nursing in Australia.
