The CSIRO E-Health Research Program is the largest coordinated e-health research activity in Australia, spanning health services and health and biomedical informatics research, encompassing the Australian E-Health Research Centre and the WA based Australian Telehealth Research and Development Group. CSIRO scientists work with our clinical and health service partners to improve access to health services via broadband and mobile communication platforms, develop tools for operational and clinical productivity and improve patient safety and health outcomes. At the Australian Telehealth Research and Development Group, a collaboration between CSIRO and WA Department of Health, our scientists are developing new telemedicine technology. The team based in Perth are developing telemedicine systems that provide screening to remote communities and enable emergency physicians to provide clinical treatment remotely. We are helping clinicians to do their job better with support tools for clinical decision-making. We are enabling better access to services for remote communities. We are improving the way we care for those who suffer from chronic diseases. We are developing better ways to store, manage, share and use health and patient information. With new and intelligent tools that improve the way health services are delivered we are enabling a better quality of care for all Australians.

T1 Synapse Medical Services

Synapse Medical Services is a leading provider of administrative outsourcing solutions for the health care sector. Synapse's innovation and expertise in health administration currently supports hundreds of clinicians and hospitals across Australia, enabling them to focus on their core business of patient care. Our solutions include o medical billing o medical appointment scheduling o virtual medical reception o outpatient clinic management o standard medical transcription o medical research transcription o medicolegal transcription o medical business transcription (meetings, memos, conferences) o patient consents. Synapse is the home of Australia's first and only comprehensive medical billing app called Synapps which replaces data handling between the bedside and the billing software. It is free, easy to use and fully integrated with the MBS. Clinicians can send billing data with the tap of a finger. We are strongly focused on rapid processing times, accuracy, quality, data security and patient privacy, and can accommodate the specific needs of all clients, whether they are individual medical practitioners, group practices, insurance organisations, allied health providers or hospitals. Synapse clients need only one device which they already own - their smartphone or tablet. Outsourcing expensive back office operations means more resources for your specialty, which is patient care not paperwork. That's ours!

T6 Murdoch University

Murdoch is positioned within one of the WA State Government's Strategic Activity Centres-a major research, development, and commercial biotechnology and health hub collocating several key institutions: the University, St John of God Private Hospital, the new Fiona Stanley Hospital and a range of clinical, support, and allied health partners. The University is investing significant intellectual and research resources in a variety of collaborative responses to emergent challenges in healthcare. It recognises the imperative for policy and service delivery agents, managers, executives and investors in the healthcare industry to understand the opportunities that lie in discipline-specific advances. In 2015 it is launching a professional qualification, the Graduate Certificate in Health Policy and Leadership, in the Sir Walter Murdoch School of Public Policy and International Affairs. In December 2014 it is offering a practical, but conceptually stimulating one-day workshop, Healthcare Financing, Technology and Management, via the Executive Education Centre in the School of Management and Governance. Guiding participants in the use of a hands-on simulation tool and based on international experiences, this interactive program provides insight into the strategic issues, interdependencies and implications of activity based healthcare financing, ICT and stakeholder management in Australia's healthcare system. The faculty involved in these initiatives will be attending the conference.
